My family and I recently returned home from a rainy, but great few days in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and I wanted to share our hotel review with you. We were hosted at The Inn on the River, located in the heart of Pigeon Forge – within walking distance of restaurants, attractions and stores.
As our home away from home for two nights, we wished we had more time to enjoy the Inn during our stay – it is a welcome spot for enjoying a bit of quiet amidst the bright lights of Pigeon Forge.
Here’s a look at our stay and some things that stood out to us that really enhanced our visit –
Location, Location, Location!
In Pigeon Forge, Highway 441 serves as the main street through town and that is where you’ll find The Inn on the River. Surrounded by plenty of attractions, we were excited to see that one of our favorite Tennessee restaurants – Puckett’s – was located right next door! (Go there for lunch or dinner – great Southern cooking!)
We loved the convenience of being so close to attractions like Paula Deen’s Adventure Park and Lumberjack Show, the Titanic Museum, The Island at Pigeon Forge (more on all those places later). We were minutes away from so many sights!
The real beauty of it all was that it was while we were so close to activities when we returned to our room overlooking the Pigeon River, we felt like we were far away from all of it. The property is quiet, and relaxing and our ground-floor room even had a porch that we loved relaxing on at night.
Unique Amenities at The Inn on the River
In addition to the peaceful accommodations, The Inn on the River has some wonderful amenities included with each stay. At check-in, there were free chocolate chip cookies welcoming guests upon arrival in the lobby – there’s no better welcome than cookies! I knew we had arrived at a special place.
Another bonus was that there is free, fresh, popped popcorn available for guests in the evening – yes, please!
And in the morning, we were greeted with a fresh, hot breakfast buffet. Complete with scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit and more – it was the makings of a great day ahead with full bellies!
My girls were excited to see that there was both an indoor and an outdoor pool at the hotel, Mom and Dad couldn’t use ‘bad weather’ as an excuse to skip the pool. We just wished the pool had been open a little later during the summer. One night while we were at the pool, I realized there was a community box filled with life jackets and pool toys available for guests to use.
Our room had a roomy refrigerator, a Keurig coffee maker and even an Alexa device that we could check up on news, weather and even ask for recommendations on what to do in the area. Hooray for helpful technology!
Learn More About The Inn on the River
We truly enjoyed our stay at The Inn on the River. It isn’t a chain hotel and that was one of the major perks that I enjoyed – the property had charm and friendliness with it. Supporting the non-chain type accommodations is important to our family. It was a small property that felt welcoming and I would definitely return again in the future.
